The concern was raised by an official of the National Insurance Corporation (NIC) in charge of the northern zone Stella Rutagaza during a meeting convened in the district to sensitise people on the benefits of insurance scheme.
She said, “Through insurance, they would be eligible for compensation in an event of losses during such calamities.”
A senior official with NIC from Tanga, Mr Abduli Kufakunoga, said many more people are not aware that even farms and crops can be insured.
