President appoints new chairman of NDC

Before his appointment, Dr Nyantahe served as chairman of the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI).  He succeeds Dr Christian Mzindakaya, who has resigned.

Dar es Salaam. President John Magufuli has appointed Dr Samuel Nyantahe the new chairman of the National Development Corporation (NDC) board of directors.

According to a statement issued by Chief Secretary John Kijazi on Monday, the appointment started with effect from July 20, this year.

Before his appointment, Dr Nyantahe served as chairman of the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI).  He succeeds Dr Christian Mzindakaya, who has resigned.

Dr Mzindakaya, a veteran politician, stepped down a few days ago, saying he was too old to continue holding the post.

He said it was time for him to step down after working in public institutions for many years. “It is not proper to hold onto power for too long, it is the right time for me to quit and concentrate on other issues. A veteran politician, he served as Kwela Member of Parliament for 45 years.
