State: We’ll net and book killers of 4 policemen

Tearfully, the Dar es Salaam Region Commissioner, Mr Paul Makonda said losing four police officers was a huge blow to the  nation.

Dar es Salaam. Home affairs minister Mwigulu Nchemba led police officers and other mourners to pay their last respects to three out of the four of policemen who were brutally killed by gunmen at CRDB Bank Mbande Branch.
Speaking during the ceremony Mr Nchemba, condemned the killings of the law enforcers and vowed  that the culprits would be tracked and brought to justice.
He warned people who posted congratukatory messages for the murderers on social media outlets that they would face the law.
 “I command police officers to arrest those who commented in praise of the perpetrators of the heinous act, so that they can elaborate on  what relationship they have with bandits,” he said.
The minister asked the police force to initiate a life insurance scheme for their officers which would assist their familiesin the event of being killed.  The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Commissioner of Police Ernest Mangu stressed to police officers to set the crime-fighting mission into higher gear, adding that President Magufuli had channelled through him, Sh10 million as condolences to family members of the murdered officers.
“I, in conjunction with the minister of home affairs will, with full backing from the President JPM, will ensure that the force tracks down the criminals,” IGP Mangu  told the the gathering at the funeral.

He said since one police  officer could protect about 1500 people, the death of four  of them translates into about 6,000 civilians  being unprotected.
“As RC, I won’t tolerate propaganda propagated by human rights activists in reaction to actions our officers will take against the bandits,” he said.
Mr Makonda proposed  that the government  should build residential  houses  for the families of the  slain officers.
The Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander Simon Siro vowed to revenge for the killings of his officers who experienced what he described as heroic deaths.
“They have provoked us, and we will retaliate in kind. I vow that we will hit them brutally as they did to our  officers,” said Siro.
Meanwhile,Attorney General George Masaju has warned that political and human rights activists who violated the laws of the land by usuing the constitution  as a cover will be punished.
However,  the Chairman of the Commission on Human Rights and Good Governance, Bahame Nyanduga stressed that, the  hunt for the murderers should take  human rights into consideration.
