Dar es Salaam. Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has inspected the renovation of a temporary residence of Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who will use it once she shifts to Dodoma.

Mr Mjaliwa inspected the house on Wednesday, December 6 in Kilimani, Dodoma Town. The building was previously being used by Dodoma regional commissioner.

Giving a report on the renovation, minister of State (Policy, Coordination, Parliament, Labour, Employment, Disabled and Youth) Jenista Mhagama said a task force coordinating the government’s shift to Dodoma discovered that the place was not suitable for the Vice-President’s permanent residence.

“That place was ideal for her state visits to Dodoma. So, we have decided to renovate it so that it meets acceptable standards,” said Ms Mhagama.

She explained that the renovation would cost Sh1.5 billion, while works of separating the office of staff and that of the aides of the Vice President would cost Sh680 million.

The Prime Minister also inspected the renovation of an office expected to be used by the Vice President in Ndejengwa.

Meanwhile, Tanzania Buildings Agency (TBA) acting manager in Dodoma Region Steven Simba, who is supervising the renovation, told the Prime Minister that they expected to finish the renovation by December 30, 2017.
