Dodoma. Mtama MP Nape Nnauye has told the government that it should not feel shy to withdraw and review the agriculture budget which he said would send a negative image about the performance of the current administration.

Mr Nnauye who was contributing on the ongoing debate about the ministry’s estimates on Wednesday said the government spent much of the domestic resources in infrastructure development while agriculture sector budget continued to decline.

According to him, investing in agriculture is directly investing in people.

“This is the time we asked ourselves, are we investing in our people or infrastructure. In fact, this proposed budget is contrary to what is in the ruling party manifesto which promised to prioritise agriculture by opening up markets and good farming environment,” said Mr Nnauye.

“It’s time we go back to our tables and rethink about the matter,” he said.
