LHRC trains paralegals in Dar on human rights issues

Speaking during the launch of the meeting on Wednesday, the LHRC newly appointed executive director Anna Henga believes that through sharing experience from each paralegal, they will figure out how human rights are accessed by or denied to people.
Dar es Salaam. Paralegals from different parts of the country are meeting in Dar es Salaam for three days to review access to human rights.
The paralegals will get training from the Legal and Human Rights Centre (LHRC) on new laws and regulations that have been imposed in the past two years.
Speaking during the launch of the meeting on Wednesday, the LHRC newly appointed executive director Anna Henga believes that through sharing experience from each paralegal, they will figure out how human rights are accessed by or denied to people.
"We (LHRC) cannot reach every place to find out what is going on, but with legal aid groups in respective regions and districts we get to understand the situation," she told the paralegals.
"We have not been meeting like this for two years now. Many legal reforms have been carried out that we want to teach you about," she added.
She highlighted the new laws, including the Information Act of 2017 and the new Legal Aid Act of 2017.
