Simanjiro. The councillor for Loiborsiret Ward in Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, Ezekiel Lesenga (Chadema) has defected to CCM, a few days after Simanjiro MP James Ole Millya joined the ruling party.

Speaking to The Citizen on October 18, Lesenga, famously known as Mardad, said he had written a letter to Simanjiro District Council executive director Yefred Myenzi, informing of his resignation from his position.

He explained that he resigned from his position in order to support President John Magufuli, saying during the time of his leadership as a councillor he cooperated well with the fifth phase government in bringing about development for residents of Loiborsiret.

"I’m resigning from my councillorship position and ceasing to be a member of Chadema. Instead I’m joining CCM, in which I was a member before. The ruling party is my home," said Lesenga.

Simanjiro District Council executive director Yefred Myenzi confirmed receiving Lesenga’s letter of resignation from being Loiborsiret councilor.

Currently, the constituency has no representative in Parliament after its MP, James Ole Millya, announced his resignation from his position on October 7, this year, and joined CCM.

Earlier, the constituency, with 18 wards, had 12 councillors on the CCM ticket while Chadema had six.
