Arusha. The Arusha has built 20 new factories, which include three large scale and 17 medium scale plants in the past two years.

Regional Commissioner Mr Mrisho Gambo said this a statement read on his behalf by Arusha District

Commissioner Gabriel Daqarro when he addressed participants during the launch of second congress focused on empowering women, which was held in Arusha School today, December 14.

Mr Gambo revealed that Longido district council has allocated some 157.5 hectares, Meru district (73,120 acres), Monduli district council (71,793 acres) and Ngorongoro district council (153.11).

Earlier, Arusha regional administrative secretary Mr Richard Kwitega urged various institutions to continue empowering women by engaging them in productive activities so as to complement the government’s desire to achieve middle income economy status through industrialisation.

For her part, Ms Amina Mfinanga, one of the women who were in the congress, thanked the government for introducing initiatives that aim at empowering women in the country, stressing that that more efforts were required to enable them to engage in productive activities.

"We thank the government for organising platforms that help us to exchange experiences.  I also request the financial institutions to start providing women with loans," she said.
