Dar es Salaam. Blue Pearl Hotel in Dar es Salaam has been closed over rent arrears. The hotel was closed on Thursday November 09, 2017 morning by Yono Auction Mart.

Guests booked at the hotel located in Ubungo area were forced out as the auctioneers moved to enforce the closure ordered by Ubungo Plaza limited.

Reports say Ubungo Plaza, is owed rent arrears amounting to Sh5.7 billion by the hotel owners.

Ubungo Plaza Chief Executive Officer Mr Harun Mgude says the hotel has failed to pay rent since 2014.

Mr Mgude said the management has lost a case they had opened at the High Court (land division) challenging their eviction.

Ubungo Plaza Limited and Blue Pearl Hotel entered into a 15-year lease agreement in 2006.

“We first evicted them in September 2014 but they were reinstated by the court but they have now lost out on the final judgement in the case,” said Mr Mgude.
