This decision now means that President Magufuli’s administration is serious about finding a lasting solution to the national airline which has been struggling financially for years to the extent that it had to periodically halt operations due to lack of aircraft.

Dar es Salaam. The government has advertised 28 posts for the state-owned Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) whose filling is key for the running of Dash aircraft.
In the advertisement that was posted in several newspapers yesterday, ATCL seeks to recruit six engineers who are certified for the manning of Dash 8-Q400.
It also seeks to recruit two pilots and two more pilots-in-command for the aircraft that are expected in the country soon.
ATCL also wants to employ 18 cabin crew members. This category will include holders of a minimum of “0” Level Secondary Certificate but who have passes in Geography, English and History. To be aged between 18 and 25, the cabin crew will also be expected to be fluent in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili as well as people who have been trained/and holders of a cabin crew licence.
This comes hardly three weeks after the government officially advertised the post for the director general of ATCL.
About five weeks ago, the government officially sent an order for two Q400 turboprop aircraft worth $62 million from a Canadian multinational aerospace and transportation company, Bombardier. The airplanes to be purchased will be delivered in a single class configuration with 76 seats each. The ATCL human resources manager officially advertised the 28 posts yesterday as President John Magufuli’s administration seeks to revamp the national carrier.
This decision now means that President Magufuli’s administration is serious about finding a lasting solution to the national airline which has been struggling financially for years to the extent that it had to periodically halt operations due to lack of aircraft.
