ATCL announces plans to resume Dar-Tabora flights

Dar es Salaam. Air Tanzania has announced plans to resume Dar es Salaam-Tabora flights this Saturday after suspending the route for more than one year because the runway was being repaired.

ATCL acting chief executive officer Milton Lazaro said in a statement yesterday that the airline would offer reliable, affordable, safe and convenient transport to passengers plying the route.

He said the airline would serve Dar-Tabora passengers thrice a week using its De-Havilland Dash8-Q300 which has 50 seats. .

It will be operating on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

“ATCL has chosen to resume Dar-Tabora flights because of the company’s commitment to providing reliable and affordable services,” he said.

“We have realised that there has been no dedicated sustainable surface transport operator to serve the route effectively since our exit. We believe the re-launch of the route will be a catalyst for the economic development of Tabora and the Lake Zone as a whole.”

Mr Lazaro said the resumption of the Dar-Tabora route was also influenced by public outcry, calls from travel agents and Parliament that the national airline serve the public.

He noted that the airline would operate on more domestic routes including those of Songwe, Arusha, Zanzibar and Mwanza.

“These new routes will be started after receiving our own new aircraft later this year,” he said.

Once the acquisition of aircraft deal is materialized public will be notified,” he said.
