TPSF now trains entrepreneurs in financial literacy

Dodoma. The Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) – an apex body of all business associations – took its entrepreneurs’ training to Dodoma on Friday as it seeks to enhance financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

According to the TPSF executive director Godfrey Simbeye, Tanzania has at least 3.1 million MSMEs, which need to be empowered through various ways for them to contribute immensely to the country’s economic development.

“So, this group forms the foundation of economic growth in the country. Hence, entrepreneurs need to be empowered so that they can continue contributing to economic development,” Mr Simbeye said at the event on Friday.

The training programmes seek to impart business skills to entrepreneurs so that they may expand and improve their businesses and capital.

Apart from training, which has been conducted in Geita, Mbeya, Kigoma and Dodoma regions, TPSF has also been conducting radio and TV programmes as it seeks to raise public awareness on the information system and advise entrepreneurs on how to start and grow their businesses, while also advocating proper enterprising.

Speaking on Friday, Chamwino District Commissioner Vumilia Nyamonga urged entrepreneurs to apply entrepreneurial skills offered by the TPSF to advance their businesses.

“I commend TPSF for a job well done as they have made sure that these entrepreneurs get skills that will help them improve their businesses by running them professionally so that they become sustainable,” he said.
