Arusha. In a drive to conform to the government’s recent directives tour guides here have joined their hands together and established a new company.

This comes a few days after the government barred unregistered tour operators from entering the national parks with visitors.

Excellence Tour Guides has been licensed to operate and has taken off with 65 members out of a total of 200 local guides expected to join later.

“We have followed all procedures for establishing a company including paying the required fees”, said the secretary of the Arusha-based Tanzania Tour Guides Association (TTGA) Emmanuel Mollel.

These include the $ 2,000 Tala licence and other fees to the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).

He told reporters here at the weekend that about 1,200 members of the association will soon be partners in the company.
