CCM faults brokers overseeing its buildings

Tanga. Political party CCM has accused brokers overseeing its properties at various locations in the city of fleecing the party. The buildings include those found at the Sabasaba suburb near Mkwakwani Stadium.

According to party officials tenants are being charged Sh100,000 per room, while the brokers hand over only Sh15,000 to CCM. The regional publicity secretary, Mr Mathew Mganga, said on Sunday that plans were underway to review existing contracts.

He said that from now on businesses will have to pay between Sh. 100,000 and Sh. 135,000 per room at Mkwakwani Stadium and Sh30,000 per room at the Sabasaba environs.

Mr Mganga described the scam as daylight robbery and added that CCM would take to task those who were involved in signing the tenancy agreements.

The evaluation team is headed by the regional CCM secretary Mr Shija Othman who did not elaborate when the team is expected to complete the exercise.

One of the tenants who ran has rented a room at the central stadium, identified by one name Sophia commended the decision to review the rent, saying the party had been deprived  a lot of money for many years.

Another tenant, Mbaraka Haji said it was time the party leaders heeded a recent call by its chairman President John Pombe Magufuli to ensure its properties and investments were cared for and benefit members.
