CCM happy with voter turnout in Monduli by-election

Monduli. The ruling Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) says it is satisfied with the turnout of voters in the Monduli by election.

The CCM publicity secretary for Arusha region Shabaan Mdoe said the turnout was good although some people were attending church services earlier in the day.

 

"The exercise is going on very well and we have not encountered problems so far,” he told MCL Digital.

 

He added that the agents for the eight political parties which have fielded candidates for the parliamentary seat were overseeing the exercise.

 

At least 80,272 voters have registered to vote in the by-election which is being held to get a new legislator for the Monduli constitutency after the erstwhile MP on Chadema ticket Julius Kalanga defected to the ruling CCM recently.

 

Other contestants for the parliamentary seat are Yonas Laizer (Chadema), Wilfred Mlay (ACT-Wazalendo), Elizabeth Salewa (AFP), Simon Ngilisho ( Demokrasia Makini), Omary Kawaga (DP), Francis Ringo (ADA-Tadea) and Feruzi Juma (NRA).

 

Earlier there were reports of poor turnout at Mswakini area along the Arusha -Dodoma road.
