Dar es Salaam. The stage is already set for the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Central Committee and National Executive Committee meetings.

A statement released by the CCM publicity and ideology secretary, Mr Humphrey Polepole, shows that the committees will hold their meetings on May 28 and May 29 in Dar es Salaam.

These, according to the statement, are ordinary meetings, which are meant to fill some vacancies within the party’s organs.

Some of the positions that fell vacant include those of chairperson of the parent’s wing and vice chairperson.

Others are chairpersons and vice chairpersons of other wings within the party.

The meetings have been called barely a few days after a team, which was formed by President John Magufuli, who is also the CCM chairperson, to assess party’s assets, submitted its report.

The team was led by Dr Bashiru Ally.

After receiving the report, President Magufuli said the party will convene meetings to go through the report.

The report found that there were some irregularities and corruption in some of the contracts that the party had entered into with investors.

“You can’t fight corruption while some officials in your party are corrupt. It is high time we cleaned our house,” said the President.

The President, who is renowned for fighting corruption, commended the team for a job well done, which according to him will help in stopping the rot.

Dr Magufuli instructed some CCM secretariat members, who were present when he received the report at the CCM offices in Dar es Salaam on Monday, to start working on it.
