Dodoma. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has allocated 12,000 hectares of land for construction of new offices and residential houses for the regional authorities.

This comes a few weeks after President John Magufuli’s firm statement that his government would be fully operational in Dodoma within the next four years.

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa also announced recently that he would formally move to the designated capital next month, leaving little doubt over the government’s resolve on the matter.

The CDA director general, Mr Pascal Mlagiri, revealed to The Citizen on Monday that the new offices, modern residential and commercial buildings will be built in Bahi and Bwigiri wards.

“We have allocated a prime, suitable and befitting area for the regional authorities to build their new headquarters in the new capital, Dodoma,” said Mr Mlagiri.

According to Mr Mlagiri, the decision makers in the region have provided excellent conditions and land for development.

He said it was now up for the investors and technicians to perform high quality work. For his part, the CDA senior investment officer, Mr Abeid Msangi, said plans were underway for the region to construct 16 satellite towns.

According to Mr Msangi, each satellite town will have the capacity to accommodate over 300,000 people.

“The proposed satellite towns will comprise business centers, residential areas, academic institutions.”
