Zanzibar. Over 300 people have joined the opposition during an event that took place in Zanzibar on Sunday, September 16, 2018.
The new members have been handed over the CUF membership cards by the party’s secretary general Seif Sharifa Hamadi during a ceremony to mark ten years of the opposition party’s women wing.
The event took place at Majid Store Hall in Kiembe Samaki in Unguja.
Handing over the cards, Mr Hamad urged the new members to adhere to the party’s principles and directives from their leaders.
“You shouldn’t lose hope because political parties all over the world need strong members who can hardly be converted and persuaded to join other parties,” he said.
Mr Hamad said he was optimistic there were no puppet among the new members, noting that people who have joined the party with ill intentions will easily be discovered.
