Dar es Salaam. Main opposition party Chadema has urged President John Magufuli to revisit the constitution re-writing process to prepare grounds for a successful war against corruption.
Addressing reporters at the party headquarters on Tuesday, the chairman of the Chadema Elders’ Wing, Mr Hashim Juma Issa, said, views presented by wananchi in the Second Draft Constitution compiled by the Warioba-led Constitution Review Commission, were crucial if the war against graft were to succeed.
The Chadema elders were of the opinion that the constitution writing process should continue from where the Warioba team ended, that means, putting aside the Proposed Constitution put forth by the Constituent Assembly.
According to him, the president if found corrupt would be protected by the constitution as well as tainted ministers or other appointees.
