Chadema set to meet in Dar

Dar es Salaam. Chadema is set to hold an emergence meeting of its Central Committee in Dar es Salaam today and tomorrow.

A statement issued by its head of Communications and Information unit, Mr Tumaini Makene, said Mr Freeman Mbowe will chair the meeting. He said the meeting will receive and deliberate on a report about the prevailing political situation in the country, among other things.

“In recent days the nation has been going through testing times which have also witnessed rampant abuse of power by authorities though statements and actions which have alerted a lot of Tanzanians,” said Mr Makene in the statement.

He said further that in the two-day meeting, the Committee will also receive and debate reports on various party plans and make decisions to align the Opposition’s activities.

“The aim is to ensure that the party operates effectively and efficiently as it strengthens its leadership structure at grassroots level across the country,” reads the statement.

Meanwhile, the party’s youth wing (Bavicha) plans to organise rallies across the country. Its chairman Patrobas Katambi told reporters that they would speak about government’s segregation in appointments, police double standards in allowing political activities and demands for reviving the process to have citizen’s constitution.
