The deputy minister of Agriculture, Dr Mary Mwanjelwa, issued the directive in Parliament in Dodoma on Thursday, November 9, when responding to Lulindi MP Jerome Bwanausi (CCM).

The MP wanted to know the government’s steps against people implicated in the embezzlement of Sh1.6 billion during the 2015/16 financial year and Sh1 billion in the 2016/17 fiscal year.

Responding to the MP, she directed law enforcers to ensure the law took its course, “I direct the police to arrest people implicated in the embezzlement of funds and bring them to justice,” she stressed.

On a shortage of sacks facing cashew nut growers in the southern regions, Dr Mwanjelwa said a ship with a consignment of one million sacks had docked at Mtwara Port, so the shortage would be dealt with in a few days.

“I will visit the regions to inspect the situation and witness how cashew nut trade is flourishing,” she told the Parliament.
