Dr Shein to lead Moslem faithful in Eid-el-Fitr prayers

  • Speaking to The Citizen on Sunday, Zanzibar’s overseer of the Eid celebrations, Sheikh Abdalla Talib said beside that Dr Shein was also expected to be the chief guest at the Idd Baraza, which is to take place at the former grounds of the House of Representatives at Mnazi Mmoja in Zanzibar Town.

Zanzibar. The President of Zanzibar, Dr Ali Mohamed Shein, is tomorrow expected to lead believers of the Islamic Religion in special prayers to celebrate Edd-el-Fitr after the end of the Holy Month of Ramadhan.

Speaking to The Citizen on Sunday, Zanzibar’s overseer of the Eid celebrations, Sheikh Abdalla Talib said beside that Dr Shein was also expected to be the chief guest at the Idd Baraza, which is to take place at the former grounds of the House of Representatives at Mnazi Mmoja in Zanzibar Town.

He said preparations for the two prayers had already been made, explaining that the Eid prayers would begin at 7.25am at the Mnazi Mmoja grounds while the Idd Baraza would begin today at 10am at the same grounds.

Sheikh Talib added that the Eid celebration committee was well prepared to ensure that there was peace and tranquility during the whole period of the Eid celebrations.

“We are well prepared to ensure that the fete becomes a success as everything is already in order including a procedure of the arrival of our invited guests and other related things,” he said.

The Unguja Urban West Regional Commissioner, Mr Ayoub Mohamed Mahmoud, echoed with Sheikh Talib, saying security and defence would be stepped up in every part of Zanzibar during the celebrations.
