East African heads of State meet in Dar Es Salaam

According to the program released here on Saturday, the summit will consider a report on EU-EAC economic partnership agreement, sustainable financing mechanism for the East African Community, political federation and progress report on verification exercise for the admission of the Federal Rebuplic of Somalia.

Dar es Salaam. East African Community heads of state are expected to meet in Dar Es Salaam, tomorrow for the 18th ordinary summit.

According to the program released here on Saturday, the summit will consider a report on EU-EAC economic partnership agreement, sustainable financing mechanism for the East African Community, political federation and progress report on verification exercise for the admission of the Federal Rebuplic of Somalia.

Others in agenda list are report on the modality for the promotion of the motor vehicle essembly and reduction on importation of the used motor vechiles and a  a report on the review of textile and leather sector with a view of phasing out importation of used textile and footware.

The summit is also expected to appoint deputy Secretary Genearal from Tanzania and Judge from South Sudan to the first instance division of East Africa Court of Jusctice.

The Summit was preceded by a two- day 34th Extraordinary Meeting of the EAC Council of Ministers which was held at Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam from today 16th to 18th May, 2017.
