Mwigamba and ten other ACT-Wazalendo members follows footsteps of several councilors in Arusha who ditched Chadema for CCM saying they have been impressed by president Magufuli performance

Dar es Salaam. Former Alliance for Change and Transparency (ACT)-Wazalendo secretary general Mr Samson Mwigamba has defected to the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).

Mr Mwigamba and ten other ACT-Wazalendo members announced the decision on Thursday, October 19, at a press conference.

He said he has defected to the ruling CCM because he is impressed by President John Magufuli's administration performance especially in fighting corruption.

"The ruling party implements ideology, which are close to those of ACT-Wazalendo, which are reflecting the Arusha declarations," said Mr Mwigamba.

He added that after he announced the decision he was insulted by party leaders, who accused him of being bribed.

Mr Mwigamba become the second high profile politician to quit ACT-Wazalendo. Professor Kitila Mkumbo, who was the party adviser, quit the party earlier this month.
