Former MNH executive director Lema dead

Former Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) executive director Leonard Lema.

Prof Lema, who until his death was serving at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Science (Muhas), died at the Department of Surgery at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute on Monday June 18, 2018.

Dar es Salaam. Former Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) executive director Leonard Lema has died.

Prof Lema, who until his death was serving at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Science (Muhas), died at the Department of Surgery at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute on Monday June 18, 2018.

A  Muhas statement noted on Monday, June 18, 2018 that Prof Lema died in the morning at the institute where he was being treated.

“Prof Lema served as the MNH executive director between 2006 and 2010. Burial arrangements are going on at his home and the public will be informed upon completion,” reads part of the statement.

Prof Lema served as the Muhas head of surgery department between 2003 and 2006.

According to the statement, the Muhas vice chancellor and the general community joined Prof Lema’s family in mourning him.
