Govt says Oman Sultan visit aimed at strengthening relations

Zanzibar. Arrival of royal family ship from the Oman Sultan Sheikh Qabous bin Said branded Fulk Al Salam had no political agenda, the government has said.

minister of State at President’s Office Mr Issa Haji Ussi, said at a press conference on Saturday October 21 that the trip aimed at strengthening bilateral relationship between the two countries.

He said the visit aimed at spreading peace and unity message as well as enhancing the cooperation between the two countries in line with improving social services.

The minister said in their four days stay, the Oman delegates met with government leaders where among others, and discussed various ways to carry forward the bilateral relationship.

“The talks majored on improvements that can be done on tourism, industries, education, investment as well as oil and gas sector are our optimisms that we shall meet the targets,” he said.

He added that, among things that discusses were the improvement of Bit-el-Ajab building, renovating the People’s Palace building, investing on fish processing industry and building the soft drinks factory.

Moreover, they have accepted to promote tourism attractions in Zanzibar, launch of direct route from Oman to Zanzibar and provision of technical and legal aid on oil and gas sector.

“The Sultanate movement of Oman has also constructed for us big mosque which accommodates 4,000 believers at once,” said the minister.
