Dar es Salaam. The government is reviewing the welfare provided to Home Affairs employees, including police officers to boost their morale and efficiency, the Parliament was on Friday, November 17.
The revelation was made in Parliament by Home Affairs minister Mwigulu Nchemba during the questions and answers session, when responding to a supplementary question from Special Seats MP Grace Kiwelu (Chadema).
In her question, Ms Kiwelu wanted to know the government’s plan to review accommodation allowances equivalent to Sh40,000 payable to police officers to improve their morale and efficiency.
Mr Nchemba said the ongoing review would accommodate all their benefits, insisting that accommodation allowance was one of the benefits to be reviewed.
“Hon deputy Speaker, the ministry is doing all this to improve the morale and efficiency not only of the police, but also of other Home Affairs employees,” he said, adding: “the review has been prompted by President John Magufuli, who is concerned about the welfare of law enforcers and other employees of the ministry of Home Affairs,” he said.
