Kalemani: Install Phase III power scheme in time

Bariadi.  Minister for Energy Medard Kalemani called on contractors of Phase III of the rural electrification scheme to complete their contractual obligations on time.

Dr Kalemani made the remark on Wednesday, August 15, when inspecting the project three Maswa District villages namely Zembeya, Songambele and Mwamanenge in Simiyu Region.

The minister said the government’s ambitious drive of industrialisation would only be possible if there is is a reliable supply of electricity.

“Every contractor who won this tender should work hard and deliver according to their contracts,” he said, adding that the contractors have been directed to light up the three villages within a week.

He added: “The priority should be given to public institutions such as dispensaries, schools and religious institutions.”

Dr Kalemani said the government will ensure that all villages are supplied with electricity.

For his part, Maswa East MP Stanslaus Nyongo asked the villagers to make better use of the project to improve their livelihoods.

The legislator, who is a deputy minister for Minerals, advised the villagers to protect the project so that it benefit them.
