Dodoma/Dar. Ubungo Member of Parliament Saed Kubenea (Chadema) was flown to Dodoma under tight police escort to appear before Parliamentary Ethics Committee.

The plane carrying Mr Kubenea touched down at Dodoma airport on Wednesday, September 20, at around 7 AM.

Mr Kubenea was arrested in Dar es Salaam yesterday and spent the night at Oysterbay Police station before he was escorted to Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) on Wednesday morning.

Mr Kubenea was taken to the Committee by National Assembly Speaker Job Ndugai following the remarks he posted on social media accusing the Speaker of National Assembly Job Ndugai of lying to the Parliament with regard to the number of bullets, which were sprayed on singida East Member of Parliament Mr Tundu Lissu.

Mr Lissu was attacked by unknown assailants at his Dodoma home on September 7. Currently, he is receiving treatment at Nairobi hospital where he was airlifted for specialized treatment.

When contacted, Chadema MPs Secretary David Silinde confirmed Mr Kubenea’s arrest.

"It is true Mr Kubenea has been arrested and he will be transferred to Dodoma this morning,” said Mr Silinde.

According to Mr Silinde, Mr Kubenea failed to appear before the Committee after falling sick.
