Magufuli dissolves Temesa advisory board

President John Magufuli has dissolved the Tanzania Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Services Agency (Temesa) advisory board as part of a series of measures that the government was taking in response to the Lake Victoria MV Nyerere tragedy that has killed over 220 people. Temesa’s role is to provide efficient and effective electrical, mechanical and electronic services and reliable, and safe ferry transport services across Tanzania.

Dar es Salaam. President John Magufuli has dissolved the Tanzania Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Services Agency (Temesa) advisory board.

A state house statement issued on Sunday, September 23, signed by director of presidential communications Gerson Msigwa says Dr Magufuli has made the decision following the MV Nyerere disaster.

“The ministerial advisory board under the chairmanship of Brigadier General (rtd) Mabula Mashauri has been disbanded effectively from today,” reads part of the statement.

The ferry accident occurred on Thursday, September 23, killing 224 people with 41 others rescued.

219 bodies have been so far identified by relatives. 214 of the bodies have been collected for burial. Four of the unidentified bodies have been buried and their DNA samples preserved for future recognition.
