Mkuchika to grace first Uongozi Institute graduation

Dar es Salaam. Minister of State, President’s Office, Public Service and Good Governance Mr George Mkuchika is expected to grace the graduation ceremony for the first group of graduates of the UONGOZI Institute Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Leadership scheduled to take place in March 21st, 2018.

A statement issued by Uongozi Institute Communications officer Ms Suzan Aroko on Tuesday disclosed.

Minister of Home Affairs, Mr Mwigulu Nchemba (MP) and the Inspector General of Police, Mr Simon Sirro, will also be in attendance.

The ceremony will be held at the Institute’s premises, where a total of 30 participants will be graduating.

Tanzania’s Institute and Aalto University Executive Education of Finland have jointly been running the one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Leadership, an executive programme that is designed to equip senior government officials with the necessary skills and competencies to provide sustainable solutions through effective leadership.

 

“We are pleased to note that 97 per cent of the police officers that began the training will graduate,” said Prof Semboja, CEO of UONGOZI Institute.

The first group of graduates comprises of senior police officers who were selected from different regions of Tanzania.

“Since we started this course back in April 2017, I have learnt a lot on how to solve challenges of all sorts whenever they come across my office. It is a very useful training, not only for police officers, but it needs to be offered to all other public servants across the country,” said Mr Benedict Kulyamba, Chief of the Human Resource Division of the Tanzania Police Force and one of the graduates.

 

The Diploma program, encompassing 10 modules, focused on enhancing leadership competencies in 3 areas, Making Strategic Choices, Leading People and Other Resources and Excelling in Personal Leadership Qualities.

The graduation ceremony will also be attended by 32 participants from the second cohort of the Post-Graduate Diploma in Leadership, scheduled to begin at the end of March.

 The second cohort includes senior government officials from various Ministries and Public Agencies.
