Dar es Salaam. Apopular opposition leader, Mr Julius Mtatiro, has questioned a move by the directorate of Presidential communication to announce the appointment of new members of ruling party’s CCM National Executive Committee (NEC).

Mr Mtatiro, a renowned critic, argued that the announcement was supposed to be made by the party’s spokesperson, who is the secretary for publicity and ideology, Mr Humphrey Polepole.

His concern came immediately after the director of Presidential communication, Mr Gerson Msigwa, on Friday, May 25 issued a statement on the appointment of former Prime Minister MizengoPinda and ex-member of the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MakongoroNyerere as the new NEC members of CCM.

The appointment was made by the CCM national chairman, Dr John Magufuli, who is the President of the United Republic of Tanzania.

On his Social media accounts, Mr Mtatiro, who is a CUF interim chairman, wrote, “There are some of issues that Tanzanians should be careful with, the move by State House spokesperson, who is a civil servant, to perform duties that ought to be done by the CCM spokesperson isn’t acceptable at all.”

The outspoken CUF leader added: “CCM has its own spokesperson yet the party’s issues are announced by the State House. This is not proper.”
