Tanzanians pay their last respects to fallen TIC officials

Dar es Salaam. Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment Charles Mwijage has on Thursday led hundreds of Tanzanians in paying their last respects to the fallen Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) members of staff.

"Their jobs were to ensure Tanzania's investment policies are favorable to investors. TIC must continue to work hard to support the state’s economic development,” the The Minister said at the Karimjee grounds where coworkers, family members, friends and TIC stakeholders paid their last respects to Zachariah Kingu, Martin Masalu and Alvin Said Moshi.

He called upon investors to continue working with staff who will be replacing the deceased.

Executive Secretary of Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) Geoffrey Simbeye said the ministry had lost a very important workforce.

"They were very young and could've contributed a lot to the ministry…to say the least, the investment sector has lost important assets,” he noted.

Tanzania National Business Council executive secretary Raymond Mbilinyi recalled how at one point he worked with the deceased at TIC, saying they were all very cooperative at work.

"During my time at TIC I worked with them…for instance, Mr Kingu who started working there before me was very cooperative. The others were also very good colleagues to work with," he said.

Mr Mwijage will soon join family and other mourners in burying the late Kingu at Kinondoni cemetery, while on Friday the deputy minister will join Martin Masalu's family in Morogoro for his burial, while the ministry’s Permanent Secretary will be present at the funeral of Alvin Said Moshi in Karatu, Manyara.
