Official: Vice president relocates to Dodoma

Dar es Salaam. Vice President Ms Samia Suluhu Hassan officially relocated to the capital, Dodoma, with effect from Friday.

Ms Samia becomes the second high ranking government leader to move to Dodoma from Dar es Salaam after Prime Minister did so in September, 2016.

Her relocation is in line with implementation of President John Magufuli’s declaration of shifting the government to the central region, a plan which was initiated by the Founder and Father of The Nation, Mwl Julius Nyerere.

Soon after her arrival, Ms Hassan inspected her new home and office where she will be working from.

The 57-year-old expressed her excitement on the new development, extending her call for the residents of Dodoma to keep supporting the government on various development projects.

 

 “I will run a reforestation campaign, which aims to turn the government capital green again,” said Ms Samia at her visiting her new home at Kilimani area.

The welcoming ceremony will be graced by Prime Minister Mr Majaliwa. It will also be attended by some of the ministers, the Dodoma Regional Commissioner and other senior government officials.

Already, all ministries and majority of senior government officers are in the capital where as Dr Magufuli is set to leave Dar es Salaam for Dodoma early next year.
