Dar es Salaam. Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has warned those who export food produce for trade saying thorough measures will be taken against them since the country doesn’t have enough food.

He said this during his speech at the national Eid ul Fitr prayer and Eid Baraza at the Riadha mosque in Moshi urban as the guest of honor of the occasion.

He said there have been increased cases of exporting food especially in borders of Tarakea, Horororo, Mwanga to mention a few and that if one is to conduct the business should first apply for legal authorization.

He added that the approval however will allow them to export only blended food crops like flour and not maize so that the process doesn’t rob jobs of Tanzanians along the agricultural sector and activities.

“Any trucks caught with food crops in any borders will be confiscated and given to the police force and the food will be taken to the national food warehouse,” he told.

Mr Majaliwa also highlighted that there are allegations that some policemen facilitate the trade at the borders. He ordered top police officials to take necessary measures against them including being sacked from their positions.
