The councilors are keen on implementation of the projects, warning that should they fail to do so, they step down.

They issued a directive November 22 at Lugoba during the 2017/18 first quarter meeting.

It was revealed that, among other things, the major challenge they were facing is that the money approved by the civic council has not yet reached the intended areas.

The Miono counsellor, Mr Juma Mpwimbwi said they were surprised to learn that they money they approved has not yet been released for implementation of development projects in their ward.

“We are surprised that no money has so far been released despite being approved,” he said.

He said Chalinze had been collecting over Sh300 million per month from its internal financial sources and that they spent the money depending on priorities, but, he said, executives were blocking development.

For his part, a member of the civic council, who is also the Chalinze MP, Mr Ridhiwani Kikwete, said some executives were negligent and did not follow the council’s directives and as a result many development projects were did not take off on time.

He also said there was a habit of diverting money allocate for funds meant for education, health, water and agriculture without the knowledge of the civic council, stressing that it is no longer the business-as-usual kind of leadership.
