  • The BBC has reported Thursday that the duo are currently being held at the Entebbe International Airport police station.

Dar es Salaam. Uganda’s opposition Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine’s brother, Eddy Yawe and Democratic Party (DP) deputy spokesperson, Waiswa Alex Mufumbiro have been arrested by police in Uganda ahead of the arrival of the MP at Entebbe Airport.

The BBC has reported Thursday that the duo are currently being held at the Entebbe International Airport police station.

The reports say every member of the MP’s family arriving at the Entebbe airport are being arrested, putting into action the earlier police warning that members of the family will not be allowed to welcome, Bobi Wine.

Currently, law enforcers have been deployed in Entebbe as well as Kampala in a state of emergency ahead the arrival of Kyadondo East lawmaker. Police fear huge crowds may come out to welcome the MP who has been in the US.

Bobi Wine is expected to land any time now this Thursday, September 20, from the US where he was receiving treatment due to alleged reports of torture by security forces.

His plane had stopped in Nairobi where further reports say it has already left the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

But, reports say, Ugandan police have been deployed to block any attempts to make a procession from the airport.

They have also limited access to the airport by people, especially journalists.

Security has mounted roadblocks on Entebbe highway to ensure materials such as T-shirts and banners related to Bobi Wine procession are not taken to the airport.

Police authorities say there will be heavy deployment in Kampala and Wakiso district, to deter any likely demonstrations that might disrupt business and traffic.

The new deployment covers the Kampala-Entebbe highway and several round-abouts on the Northern Bypass, between Mandela National Stadium and Busega in Wakiso district.

Security forces have also set up command posts at both ends (Entebbe town and Kasangati), supervised by traffic, counter terrorism and field force Police unit commanders.

Yesterday, Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima announced security guidelines for the return of Kyagulanyi.

While addressing the media at the Police headquarters in Naguru, Nakawa division, Kayima said the Police are working with sister security agencies to ensure that there is law and order.

He said the Police had received confirmation that Kyagulanyi is slated to return today via Entebbe
