Dodoma. At least Sh6.4 billion is needed for the construction of the Buhingwe Hospital in Kigoma Region.

The government is currently implementing a Sh450 million project to construct the Outpatient Department (OPD) structure.

The development was revealed on Friday by deputy minister in the President Office (Regional Administration and Local Government) Joseph Kakunda.

He was responding to a question from Special Seats MP Josephine Genzabuke (CCM).

Mr Kakunda added that during the 2017/18 fiscal year, the government set aside a total of Sh500million for the construction of the Buhingwe District Hospital.

In his key question, Ms Genzabuke said people in his constituency suffer a lot because of poor access to key health services.

Responding to the question, Mr Kakunda said the new districts of Kakonko, Uvinza and were also suffering from the same problem.

He, however, revealed that there are projects being implemented by SUMA JKT, which would help minimise the challenge.

"Our intention is to ensure that there are reliable health services across the country,” he said.
