Zimbabwean Kangwa grabs the heart of Azam managers

An Azam FC source told The Citizen that club officials had agreed in principle with Zimbabwean premier league side Highlanders over the transfer of the player, and they are now waiting medical examinations. Kangwa had an impressive start to the season in his country after he was named the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League’s best player for the last three successive months. He is also leading the Zimbabwe Premiership with seven goals going into the mid-season break.
Dar es Salaam. The Azam Football Club’s technical bench has been satisfied with Zimbabwean versatile player Bruce Kangwa who was under trials for a possible move to Dar es Salaam from his current base in Bulawayo.
Apart from Kangwa, Azam FC looks set to sign Cote d’Ivoire goalkeeper Daneal Yeboah, but has since dropped Spanish custodian Juan Jesus Gonzalez who has already returned to Spain.
Kangwa has so far played one match, but that was all he needed to impress the Ice Cream makers’ technical bench. Azam won 5-0 against first division side Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) yesterday.
The player joined other recruits who are still undergoing trials, Mohamed Chicoto, Mossi Moussa Issa (Niger) and strikers Ibrahima Fofana (Cote d’Ivoire) and Burundian Fuadi Ndayisenga.

Azam information officer Jaffer Idd said Kangwa played well during training as well as the friendly match, and believe they will sign him. “If he had performed badly they would have allowed him to return to Zimbabwe, but he played well and have impressed all,” said Idd.
Kangwa plays both attacking midfield and front. That was another plus for him, and eventually for Azam if they finally sign him.
“He has done well, but he is still undergoing trials. He is part of the team leaving the city for Zanzibar for a 10-day training,” said Idd.
In Zanzibar, the team will play two friendly matches at the Amaan Stadium, and later return to Dar es Salaam for further training. The team has no plan to train abroad as they did before.
