Johannesburg. A Rainford Kalaba goal gave TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo a 1-0 win over Mouloudia Bejaia of Algeria Wednesday and a CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals place.

The Zambia captain and winger scored from close range on 61 minutes to complete a move involving a run from midfield and clever passing that created space in a crowded goalmouth.

Bejaia came close to equalising in stoppage time as a Yassine Salhi shot shaved the post before trickling wide in southern Congolese city Lubumbashi.

Group A leaders Mazembe have 10 points after four rounds, Medeama of Ghana and Bejaia five each and Young Africans of Tanzania one.

Abass Mohammed scored twice as Medeama beat Young Africans 3-1 in Sekondi Tuesday.

Mazembe are seeking a first Confederation Cup title having won the CAF Champions League five times, the CAF Super Cup three times and the African Cup Winners Cup once.

Bejaia host Medeama during August in a final-round showdown that will decide who accompanies Mazembe to the semi-finals.
