Dar es Salaam. Azam FC head coach Zeben Hernandez has lavished praise on his strike force following a deserved 3-0 annihilation of Majimaji FC at Azam Complex on Saturday.

The Chamazi side bounced back strongly after a disappointing 1-1 draw against newly promoted African Lyon last weekend.

Azam’s stalwart striker scored a brace as Mudathir Yahya added the other to seal their first win of the 2016/16 Premier League season. Speaking after the match, the Spanish coach expressed his delight for garnering maximum points and lauded his strike force, saying it is now coming of age.

“Our strikers are slowly getting better after last weekend’s draw when they did not make us of the many chances they created. I am happy for team’s performance,” said Hernandez.

“After the match against African Lyon, we went back to the drawing board and I am happy that the players performed according to my directives. I believe that they will lethal as the league gathers pace,”

“We must learn from our mistakes and bounce back quickly. It’s my belief that this team will more aggressive after a few matches.” For Majimaji, it was their second straight defeat which makes it one of their worst starts to the season. They kicked off the league with a 1-0 loss at the hands of Tanzania Prisons. Hernandez has now shifted his focus to their next match against Tanzania Prisons, which will take place on September 7 at the Sokoine Stadium before clashing with Mbeya City at the same venue three days later.

“We have two tricky matches in Mbeya, so we have come up with the best approach that will enable us to take maximum points on away ground,” he said.

The two Mbeya outfits have caused Azam FC problems in recent seasons.

Hernandez replaced Stewart Hall at the helm of Azam in July after the Briton parted ways with his employers on mutual consent.
