Liverpool legend impressed with Serengeti Boys’ performance

Dar es Salaam. Liverpool legend Sami Hyypia has been impressed with the talent showcased by the U-16 national soccer team, Serengeti Boys, and believes they will shine in international competitions if they will maintain their spirits.

Hyypia said this after sharing experiences during a soccer clinic held at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club grounds. The clinic was organized by the Standard Chartered Bank together with Standard Chartered Cup tournament featuring 32 teams.

Speaking after the clinic, Hyypia said players forming the team have best qualities and the task ahead is to improve them so they can excel in their career as they are growing.

“They are good players although I have seen them playing for a short time. There are talented players who can play anywhere. if they maintain their status in the game. What they are supposed to do is to make efforts and put their target in the game,” said Hyypia.

He said is the task for the football governing body in the country to technical bench to make sure they give them proper training as well as camp in order to make them excel in the career.

Standard Chartered bank Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, Juanita Mramba, said they are happy to be real stakeholders of football in the country and believe the clinic will help the players to open a new chapter in the game.

“We are committed to football development in the country and the clinic was very good. We hope players will use the learning in the football development,” said Mramba.
