Over 20 drivers gear up for final round of NRC

Dar es Salaam. Morogoro Municipality is the venue of the opening stage of the seventh round of this year’s National Rally Championship (NRC) drawing over 20 cars from five regions.

The chairman of the organising committee, Amos Makau said they expected to have over 20 cars representing Mzizima, Iringa, Kilimanjaro, Tanga and Arusha Motorsports Clubs. “All drivers are in Morogoro.

They will today tomorrow (today) attend a scrutineering process after completing a route reconnaissance exercise on Friday (yesterday),” said Makau.

The competition will be opened with a Super Special Stage to be held at Tobacco Processing Plant grounds before cars head off to Mvomero District where the remaining sections will be completed.

The state’s fastest driver, according to Makau, will be the first off ramp when the competition moves to Mvomero.

Among the drivers, who have already reported in Morogoro, include Arusha’s Gerald Miller who is leading in seeding point’s standings, Harinder Deere and Moses Matovu from Dar es Salaam. Also from Dar es Salaam is Dharam Pandya of Puma Energy Team.

Others are Arusha-based Gurpal Sandhu and Harri Singh brothers, Guljit Djhani, Ajminder Singh and Rajpar Dhani from Kilimanjaro.

Ahmed Huwel, whose company has sponsored this year’s thriller, confirmed he will compete in the event to show the young drivers that he was still among the best drivers.
