Simba, Yanga, URA for Mapinduzi Cup

Ugandan giants URA are among 10 teams that have confirmed their participation in the Mapinduzi Cup tournament, which kicks off on December 31 at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar. Also on the list are the country’s football heavyweights Simba and Young Africans, according to the Zanzibar Football Association (ZFA) secretary general, Mohammed Ally. (Majuto Omary)

Ally said yesterday that Mtibwa Sugar, Azam FC, Zanzibar’s Taifa Jang’ombe, JKU, Zimamoto, Jamhuri and Mlandege will also compete in the tournament.

Kenyan giants AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, who had shown interest in taking part in the championship, failed to beat the deadline for confirmation.
