Dar es Salaam. Giant gaming firm SportPesa has been nominated for the prestigious Football Business Award (FBA) 2017.

SportPesa, which traces its roots in Kenya, was shortlisted as a finalist for two global awards under the category of Best Brand Activation involving Football for their campaigns with English Premier League giants, Everton FC and English Football League Championship outfit- Hull City FC.

International recognition

Under the category of Best Brand Activation involving Football, SportPesa will be competing with other prestigious brands such as Nivea in their partnership with Liverpool FC as well as Virgin Media, who are main club sponsors for Southampton FC.

The firm’s chief executive officer, Pavel Slavkov, has proudly received the nomination.

“It is truly an honour to receive such high-profile recognition for our efforts to promote football development across various regions and using the sport to unite cultures as well as build careers,” he said.

SportPesa’srecord sponsorship with Everton FC is a major factor for the nomination. The nine-time Premier League Champions visited Tanzania for their pre-season tour which marked their first ever visit in East Africa.
