Dar es Salaam Swimming Club (DSC) will field 25 swimmers in this year’s Morogoro International School (MIS) Swimming Championships opening on Friday.

Announcing the squad yesterday, DSC coach, Michael Livingstone said his swimmers were in high spirits, looking forward to shine in the three-day championship.

He said his squad is a blend of young but gifted swimmers and old blood.

He named Bluefins Club, which will also have 25 swimmers at the event as among outfits they are wary of.

“We are well prepared for the championship because we are aware that we will be up against top teams from around the country,” Livingstone said.

“We will ensure we successfully retain the trophy. I know it will not be an easy task.

“We expect stiff opposition from other clubs because the championship brings together the crème of swimmers from various clubs, but we are ready for the challenge,” he insisted.

But he admitted that they will miss the services of some of their talented swimmers due to what he described as ‘unavoidable circumstances.’

The club’s top female swimmer Celina Itatiro, who has shrugged off a knee injury, is among swimmers they bank on for medals at the event.

But they will be unfortunate not to have on board Maia Tumiotto, who has opted to skip the event.

He named male swimmers in the squad as Alejandro Corujo, Peter Itatiro, Reuben Monyo, Kupakwashe Zengeni, Kuziwa Zengeni, Raahi Davda and Rodrick Robert.

Others are Tahhan Mawji, Tele Sitoyo, Luke Okore, Austin Okore, Jonathan luvua, Matthew Lubuva and Menelik Foya.

Also on the list are female swimmers Ria Save, Isobel Bush, Chichi Zengeni, Linda Mushi, Ayla Amalile, Naaliyah Kweka, Sasha Muraguri, Kayla Temba, Linnet Laiser and Amaris Nanyaro.
