Sunflower oil processors, Indian body join forces

Dodoma. Sunflower oil processors in the Central Zone corridor have entered into a business joint venture deal with the Indian-based Solvent Extractor’s Association (SEA), thanks for the Indian Trade and Investment for Africa (SITA).

For the past four day, delegates from SEA, a premier association of vegetable oil industry and trade in India, were here for exploring possibilities of building commercial partnership in oilseed sector with focus on investment and joint venture.

Speaking during the special meeting christened the Sunflower Business to Business (B2B) Meeting which attracted sunflower oil processor from all central zone regions, Assistant director, Investment and Research Department in the ministry of industry, trade and investment, Ms Elli Pallangyo said the move was in line with the government’s Five Years plan to improve the sunflower oilseed sub-sector.

“The government has already drafted a Sunflower Development Strategy Plan under the auspicious of the Supporting Indian Trade and Investment for Africa (SITA). It is a rare opportunity which am encouraging you to use if effectively,” she told the local processors. For his side, the chairman of the Tanzania Sunflower Oil Processor Association (Tasupa), Mr Ringo Iringo, said the development would greatly boosting the sunflower value chain in the zone.

According to him, as per the different contract entered, the local processors will from now start selling their products to the Indians, as they would also benefiting a lot in terms of technological transferring.

“We are very grateful that you have decided to chip in and open international business doors for us as we are now assured of modern technology for oilseed crushing,” he said.
