To begin with, the insurance authority through the programme called "National Insurance Education Strategy" will register and train selected journalists from various media houses before reaching other groups across the country.

Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam today, TIRA Commissioner of Insurance, Dr Baghayo Saqware noted that TIRA, in partnership with Financial Sector Deepening Trust, is set to raise more than $108,000 to finance the programme.

"Lack of awareness on importance of insurance service is a key challenge facing the insurance industry in the country. To address the challenge, we have organised a countrywide campaign to educate the public," he said.

He said they have decided to start by training journalists because media was crucial in mass dissemination of information.
