Dodoma. Deputy minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Mr Joseph Hasunga said on Tuesday that the government has not stopped use of charcoal but wants proper channels to be followed.
Mr Hasunga said the government wants the charcoal to have meaningful contribution to the economy and at the same time conserve natural forests.
"We want to encourage people to use charcoal sustainably. There are special centres to buy charcoal and the dealers must have a licence," said Mr Hasunga.
He also said even transporters need to obtain permits.
