Tanzania’s Majaliwa wants CCTV cameras in big cities to tighten security

Dar es Salaam. Prime minister Kassim Majaliwa has instructed Home Affairs Ministry to install closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV cameras) alongside of main roads in the big cities across the country with a view to strengthening peace and security in the country.

"Installation of CCTV cameras along the main roads in big cities will help in tracking down and detaining criminals," he said.

He issued the directive when addressing participants during the launch of a Sh667 million police station located in Mbweni-Kawe District in Dar as Salaam on Thursday.

Earlier on Thursday, the Premier officiated the launch of other two modern police stations located in Mburahati (Sh1.2 billion facility) and Kiluvya in the city.

The facilities have been funded by development partners in close collaboration with the government.
